Steven Smith 200: Smith scores 4th double hundred; equals Bradman’s record

The new “Mr. Consistent” of Australian Cricket scored his 4th double hundred today in WACA as he carves his way into “The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen” alongside stalwarts like Sunil Gavaskar and Kane Williamson with respect to the number of double hundreds in Test.

Even though speculations on his ability were doing the rounds after the “Sandgate Controversy” that led to his suspension from International Cricket temporarily, his comeback has been of an epic proportion.

Steve Smith equals Don Bradman’s record of 29 centuries

His revival speak volumes about his strength of character, his self-belief and more importantly his talent as he followed his teammate Marnus Labuschagne to the record books as the 5th highest centurion for Australia in Tests equalling Sir Don Bradman. His domination is not just limited to only one particular format of the game as he has always been a force to reckon with in ODI’s and T20’s as well.

However, it’s not just the number of runs, but also the way they are accumulated that counts as the measure of the impact exerted. He was a bit circumspect to begin as he excercised caution, but stepped towards agression after completing his hundred, his 2nd in the last 3 innings. With Labuschagne by his side to begin with , followed by Travis Head , a fairy- tale is what was on offer.
