Rohit-on-a-Roll : Indian Captain enters record books as fastest to hit 500 sixes in International Cricket

Walking out to bat while nursing a sore thumb, Rohit Sharma made a valiant effort to surpass the Bangladesh score of 271 in the 2nd ODI in Mirpur. However, his personal score of 51 in 28 balls takes a backseat in light of the record he achieved and more importantly the way he achieved. Rohit had hurt his left thumb while fielding in the slips during Bangladesh’s innings and was immediately rushed to the hospital for an X-ray. It was when all seemed lost of the Indian challenge, Rohit came to bat at No.9 and put up quite a show hitting 5 sixes en route to a dazzling 51 of 28 balls. Even though, India lost the match by 5 runs, but Rohit won the heart not only for the runs he scored but also his strength of character. His innings got India tantalizingly close to the target and made a match of the game , which otherwise seemed to be another meek surrender of the tourists.
Team India is currently plauged by injuries sustained by their star players and are struggling to get their combination right. After Bumrah, Jadeja and Shami, another severe blow is on offer as Rohit is ruled out for the rest of the series. To add to the woes, even Deepak Chahar managed to bowl only 3 overs before he went off the field with a stiff hamstring. He is also unable to make it to the final XI for the rest of the tour. A struggling Team India with a powerhouse of talent but lacking the power to apply it paints a very dismal picture on the field which has been the case in the last few outings.
