Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad registers itself in the Guinness Book of World Records

The Narendra Modi Cricket stadium made its way into the Guinness Book of Records for the number of people that attended the IPL Finals of 2022 between Gujrat Lions and Rajasthan Royals .

The match, held on 29th May, 2022 was attended by 101, 566 people, the highest ever in a T20 match.

Jay Shah, secretary of the BCCI took to Twitter today to thank the fans and enthusiasts for their support and presence that made this proud feat achievable. The stadium in Motera, Ahmedabad is the biggest stadium till date in terms of seating capacity.

It can accommodate around 110,000 spectators, 20,000 more than the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia. This state-of-the-art infrastructure spread over 60 acres, houses 4 dressing rooms, 7 practice pitches( both indoor and outdoor) alongwith an indoor cricket academy.

The old stadium ( known by Sardar Patel stadium) had been the witness to several records being made, like Sunil Gavaskar reaching 10,000 test runs which was the highest ever then , Kapil Dev’s reaching the milestone of the highest number of test wickets as he claimed his 432nd test wicket.

Home to the new IPL team, Gujrat Titans, who were both debutant and champions of the league this year has been the talk of the town since it was thrown open to public after the renovations in 2020, it has also hosted Donald Trump during his inaugural visit to India as the President of the United States.
