According to Cricbuzz, the World Test Championship (WTC) final will begin in the first week of June.

World Test Championship final expected to take place on June 7; days after the IPL 2023 final

Although the International Cricket Council (ICC) has not officially released the schedule, it is scheduled to run from June 7 to 11, with a reserved day to make up for lost play due to weather. The game will take place at The Oval.

That kickoff date could be perilously close to the Indian Premier League final (IPL). The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is thought to be finalizing the whole IPL schedule, however, it could end on June 4 or May 28, both of which could be too close for the Indian team’s comfort.

If India qualifies for the WTC final, the BCCI, national selectors, and team management may have to do a lot of juggling with those days, especially if the league season extends into June.

India is currently ranked fourth on the WTC standings, trailing Australia, South Africa, and Sri Lanka. However, positive performances in the final six Tests – two against Bangladesh later this month and four at home against Australia in February and March – should propel them into the top two. The BCCI will face a struggle in keeping the top players injury-free.

Not only is the IPL final schedule close to an international game. The start date will also be close to an international match.
