The year 2022 keeps getting better and better for Suryakumar Yadav and he has another record to show for it to his name now.

In the final Super 12 group match against Zimbabwe, Suryakymar Yadav became the first Indian cricketer to score 1000 T20I runs in a calendar year.

He is now the only second batter by Mohammed Rizwan of Pakistan to achieve this feat. Hence this is a major achievement for Suryakumar Yadav.

Suryakumar Yadav creates history by becoming first Indian batter to score 1000+ T20I runs in a year

The 32-year-old is showing that he is all class and deserves to be playing at top level for India.

Suryakumar Yadav’s hard work was rewarded last week itself as he became the top ranked batter in the T20I cricket. He is currently the number 1 batter in the shortest format of the game.

And his class was once again on show today in the match against Zimbabwe. After having lost 2 wickets in quick successions India found itself struggling at 101/4.

Suryakumar Caused carnage against Zimbabwe

That is when Suryakumar Yadav stood up to score a 25 ball 61* to power his team to a competitive total of 186. He scored the fifty in just 23 balls which means he striked at 200+ strike rate yet again.

Suryakumar Yadav, as always, targeted all parts of the ground. He smashed 6 fours and 4 sixes around the park to entertain the crowd. And brought up a fabulous end to the inning for India as well.

Mind you, India might have already qualified for the semifinals courtesy to South Africa losing to Netherlands. But that doesn’t mean that Indian doesn’t have any incentive to play well.

India will be looking to win this game with all their might so that they can end the group stage as table toppers. This will ensure that they face England in semi finals instead of New Zealand, against whom they have been susceptible in recent years.

Pakistan was the other team that qualified to the Semi-finals alongside India. They beat Bangladesh in a virtual quarterfinal to qualify from Group 2 of Super 12 stage.
