Inter Miami confident to sign Argentina’s Lionel Messi, claims Ornstein

After a year to forget at Paris Saint Germain, Lionel Messi is reminding the world yet again why he is still the best in the business. And this has made several clubs interested in the services of the former Barcelona talisman.

Lionel Messi made a shock move from Barcelona to PSG in summer 2021. This was one of the most unprecedented move in this recent history of Football. And it is said to have affected the player mentally.

Everyone knows that Messi had regarded Barcelona more than a football club. On several occasions he had mentioned how it’s his home. And he never wanted to leave it.

Still the inevitable had to happen and Messi was forced to move to PSG. Following which he had a dry spell at the French Capital.

It resulted in Messi being snubbed from the Ballon d’Or shortlist. Something that had never happen in the past 18 years. The record 7-time champions was not  present on the 30-player shortlist.

Lionel Messi’s redemption in 2022/23 season

This was followed by severe criticism. And people calling him out as a finished player.

The tides have turned once again though, as Messi is turning back the years at PSG. He has had a great start to the season.

Messi has played 17 games for PSG and has a 25 G/A aggregate. He has managed to put the ball in the net on 12 occasions and provided a game changing pass on 12 occasions that had resulted in an assist.

Hence, it doesn’t come as a surprise that there are teams like Barcelona and Inter Miami swarming in to claim his services for the next season.

Noticeably, Messi’s 2 -year deal at PSG comes to an end next summer. And the club is certainly not willing to part ways with the player yet.

Therefore, there is a huge battle being played out between the three clubs for Messi’s services next year.

Inter Miami the likely candidates for Messi’s services next year

According to a report by The Athletic, surprisingly it is the Inter Miami who is leading the race. The David Beckam co-owned club has had several meetings with Messi’s father, Jorge.

If Messi puts pen to paper for Inter Miami it will be a huge boost for not only Miami based team but the whole of US football in general.

Messi will be by far the greatest signing in not only the history of Miami, but MLS itself.

Furthermore, it will also provide a huge influence on the 2026 FIFA world Cup that is to be co hosted by the United States of America.

The talks between the player and the management of Inter Miami have been halted for the time being. Messi is said to be wanting to focus on the World Cup campaign at hand.

And the talks will most probably resume in 2023. Which means that something much more decisive can take place. Considering the fact that Messi will be eligible to sign a pre-contract at that point.
