The Samuel Umtiti transfer saga has finally come to an end today cause the Spanish giants FC Barcelona have officially announced his departure from the club. The La Liga side have been desperately trying to sell or loan out the French International for many years and now they have successfully completed the operation.
Umtiti will join the Italian side Leece on a season-long loan deal with the Serie A side having an option to buy at the end of the deal. But the interesting thing about this loan deal is that Barcelona will pay all of the centre-back’s wages on his loan which means that Leece won’t have to pay anything.
Samuel Umtiti contract details
This was a shock to the Barcelona supporters cause they thought that this deal made no sense if their club isn’t getting any financial benefit. But later there were reports that the Spanish side has inserted clauses in the contract whereby if Samuel plays a certain number of games or manages to keep a certain number of clean sheets then Barca would receive the bonuses for it.
So Barca would definitely make something out of the deal if he plays and Barca had to take this sort of deal because no club was willing to take the risk to sign Umtiti cause of his injury records in recent seasons.
However apart from the bonuses, there is one more positive in this deal cause if indeed Umtiti manages to play a lot of games and be back in the form that he once was, it would be simply sensational for both him and Barca.
This is because if he plays well, there is a slight chance that he might get in the France squad for the World Cup which is just around the corner and for Barca, there is a possibility that because of his impressive performances, next summer other clubs in Europe might be willing to buy him for a higher price and that is surely a financial gain for the club.
All in all, it is a fresh start for Samuel and it would be interesting to see if he can prove his critics wrong and prove to the world that he is still one of the best defenders.
