Bangladesh lose premier batsman Tamim Iqbal to injury ahead of India series

Bangladesh team suffered a major setback as star batsman Tamim Iqbal is being ruled out of the ODI series due to groin injury. As a part of the tour itenary, India and Bangladesh are supposed play 3 ODI’s followed by 2 Tests starting 4th December.

Tamim not only misses out on the ODI’s but is also doubtful for the 1st Test as well . There is only a 3 day break between the ODI and the Test and it’s a tough ask to get the star batsman match-ready for the 1st Test that starts on December 14 after the 3rd ODI on December 10.

Tamim Iqbal injury details

Tamim happened to pick up the groin injury while playing in a warm-up match in the Sher-e-Bangla stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka and after careful introspection by the doctors, has been advised 2 weeks rest.

Adding further to their woes, the bowling too suffered a major blow as Taskin Ahmed, the spearhead of the Bangladesh pace attack is also unavailable for the 1st ODI due to a back injury.

Shariful Islam will be replacing as per latest reports. Confirming the news , the Bangladesh Cricket Board chief selector Minhajul Abedin also added that they would be closely monitoring his progress before taking a final call in his participation.
