Atletico Madrid reached an agreement with Barcelona to sign Griezmann

According to widespread reports in the Spanish media, FC Barcelona have reached an agreement with Atletico Madrid over the transfer of the French International Antoine Griezmann for a deal which is around 20 Million Euros plus 2 Million in variables.

Now this deal has been modified cause at first, in 2021 Antine reunited with Atletico in the summer of 2021 on a 2-year loan deal with Madrid having an obligation to buy clause of around 40 Million Euros in 2023 if the Frenchman had played a certain number of games during his spell under Diego Simeone.

Barca and Atletico Madrid reach agreement for Griezmann

And it was almost guaranteed that Griezmann will join Atletico on a permanent deal in 2023 and Madrid would have to pay Barca 40 Million Euros in order to sign him. However, due to the financial crisis that Atleti are having, they decided that it is not feasible to sign the forward and so they found a solution to not to trigger the obligation clause.

Hence, in this season they have told Diego Simeone that Antoine can only play the matches after 60 minutes, so since then Simeone has accepted it and it’s been regularly seen that the forward comes off the bench in almost every match after the 60th-minute mark.

So this was really damaging to the player’s form, both physically and mentally and it was very risky to Griezmann cause of the World Cup year. And hence both the clubs reportedly had decided to sort out this situation and come to an agreement.

So hence, it is now believed that they have reached a deal and now it is expected that Antoine can play the full 90 minutes.
