The 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup will be held in Australia from October 16 to November 13, 2022.
The most anticipated ICC tournament of the year is due to begin in October in Australia, with the reigning champions looking to capitalize on the opportunity to win at home. Earlier today, the World T20 schedule was released, and we can look forward to some pyrotechnics and entertainment.
Teams and qualifications at T20 World Cup 2022
The twelve teams that advanced to the Super 12 stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2021 automatically qualified for the tournament in 2022. Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, Pakistan, New Zealand, and South Africa have qualified for the Super 12 phase of this tournament based on their results in the 2021 tournament and rankings as on November 15, 2021. Namibia, Scotland, Sri Lanka, and the West Indies were all assigned to the competition’s group stage.
Two teams from each of the two Global Qualifiers filled the final four spots. There were sixteen teams in the Global Qualifiers: the bottom four teams from the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup (Ireland, Netherlands, Oman, and Papua New Guinea), the next four highest ranked T20I sides (Zimbabwe, Nepal, the United Arab Emirates, and Singapore), and the eight teams that advanced from the Regional Finals.
Global qualifiers.
Global Qualifiers comprised four lowest-ranked teams from the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup, four best-ranked teams not already qualified for the World Cup or qualifiers, and eight teams from Regional Qualifiers.
Namibia, the Netherlands, Sri Lanka, the United Arab Emirates, Ireland, Scotland, the West Indies, and Zimbabwe will compete in the qualification round. Four of these teams will join the other teams in the super 12 round.
First Round of T20 World Cup 2022
A total of eight teams from two groups will compete for a spot in the super 12 in the first round on October 16th.
Group A winners and runners will compete in Group 1 of the Super 12, while Group B winners and runners will compete in Group 2 of the Super 12.
