Ronald Araujo opts for surgery likely to miss World Cup

The international break is over all the payers will return to their respective clubs and play for them until the World Cup starts. But Barcelona hasn’t been lucky during the break cause many of their players got injured with their national team with the likes of Memphis Depay, Frenkie De Jong, Ronald Araujo and Jules Jounde in the list.

Now Araujo had suffered a serious injury in his thigh with Uruguay and after conducting further tests, it was down to whether perform surgery or not.

It was earlier reported that it won’t be serious as it turned out to be so even if he went with the conservative treatment, he would have been out for 6-7 weeks which clearly meant that he was going to miss every single game with Barca for this year but there was a chance that he could play the World Cup.

However, there was a big meeting yesterday between Araujo, his agents, Xavi and also Dr. Ricard Pruna to basically decide whether to opt for surgery or not. And later in the day, it was indeed confirmed by the club that the defender will opt for surgery and hence it was better and safer way to protect him.

This clearly states that he’s gonna be out for the rest of the year and also has a high chance to miss the World Cup. However, there are some reports that because Ronald is young, it is highly possible that he recovers very quickly and might have a chance to play in the Cup. All in all, in a long term perspective the player has made the right decision.
