Ravi Bishnoi gets his maiden India call; Kuldeep Yadav to make his return for Windies series

After going unnoticed for so long, Ravi Bishnoi has finally made his mark. The young leg spinner from Rajasthan has finally received his maiden international call.

Bishnoi caught everyone’s eye in the IPL 2020, where he bagged many wickets for the Punjab Kings. However, what caught everyone’s attention was his sublime spell in the 2021 edition of IPL.

IPL heroics of Ravi Bishnoi caught everyone’s attention

In the 14th edition of the marquee tournament, Bishnoi managed to pick up 12 wickets in just nine matches. And it was not only his ability to pick wickets that caught everyone’s attention. It was his economy of 6.69 that had everyone’s head-turning.

Apart from Bishnoi, the Indian team has received another major injury boost. Their famous China man Kuldeep Yadav, who had sustained an injury last year too, has cleared his medical and will be a part of this series.

Talking about the same, a BCCI spokesperson said, “Kuldeep Yadav is making a comeback, and Ravi Bishnoi is the new face in the team for the West Indies series. The team will be led by Rohit Sharma,” reports PTI.

Marquee players retain their places for the series

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who had a meager outing in the ODI series against South Africa, is set to miss out in the 50-over format. While he still remains a part of the T20I set-up, which is unexplainable at the moment, considering his form.

Virat Kohli will be seen in action despite several players being rested for the series. The former Indian captain is yet to play a single match under the newly appointed captain, Rohit Sharma.

He was seen in action against the South Africans in the 3-ODI series, in which he made a significant impact by scoring two fifties. However, his fans will be hoping for him to end the international century drought. In the past two years, Kohli has failed to score a single international century.

Indian fans will also be excited to see the formidable duo of Kul-Cha on the field. It is the nickname given to Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal. They both are similar types of spinners, albeit with different hands. In the years 2017-19, they had great success together.

A sudden dip in form from Kuldeep Yadav, followed by an injury, saw the left-armer lose his position in the team. Now he has another chance, though, and will hope to give his best.
