PSG Midfielder Marco Verratti Signs New 2-Year Contract Extension Deal

Ligue 1 giants, Paris Saint-Germain’s midfielder Marco Verratti has signed a new contract extension which is two-year long on Wednesday. This contract would be tying the midfielder down with the French champions until 2026.

The 30-year-old Italian international had previously joined the Parisian club from a second-tier Italian champion club, Pescara way back in 2012. He has completed 399 appearancs for PSG in the dramatic game against Strarbourg earlier, where Neymar was sent off from pitch with a red card.

With this match, Verratti becomes the player with second most appearances for the club with only the former defender, Jean-Marc Pilorget having played more matches for the French champions with a total of 435 appearances.

In his run with PSG, Verratti has witnessed a total of eight league title victories with the club, along with six French cup wins, and six League cups to his name.

Verratti has spoken of his love for the Ligue 1 giants, with whom he has been for a decade now saying that it gave him an immense amount of pride to be able to extend his contract with the club.

“I have always received a lot of support from the club and the fans since I started, and I am very grateful for that. It was obvious to me that my story would continue to be written here,” he further added.

The Italian’s new contract deal with Paris Saint-Germain takes him further in his career with the club to 2026, adding another two years of extension to his previous contract, which was due to expire in the coming June 2024.

Verratti had earlier been linked with a rumoured return to Italy in the controversy-embroiled club Juventus, but his current commitment to PSG has now proved the continuation of his career in the French capital.
