Pro Kabaddi: Jaipur Pink Panthers lift 2nd title; defeat Puneri Paltan 33-29 in final to become PKL9 champions

Jaipur Pink Panthers have done it. The dream is finally turned into a reality as they lift their second Pro kabaddi league title in Mumbai.

The inaugural champions have another title to their name as they beat Puneri Paltan in the finals of PKL 9 in a very closely contested game that could have gone any way.

In a clash between the first and second ranked team of group stage there were no favorites. Both the teams had it within them to lift the title, but at the end of the day it came to grit. And Jaipur was just a little grittier than their opponents to win it.

The tussle between Shinde and Sunil Kumar in the final raid was a personification of how badly both the teams wanted to win it. however, on the day only one team could win it, and that was Jaipur Pink Panthers.

The game started in one of the cagiest manners. Both teams went for each other’s throat to get their hands on the trophy. The first half was so close that the teams were separated by a margin of just 2 points.

Jaipur Pink Panther led the game by 14-12 at halftime. But Puneri Paltan made a great comeback in the second half. After being inflicted an all out in the second half they almost came in the touching distance.

That is when Arjun Deshwal rose to the occasion to save his team. Deshwal was going through a rough patch in the past few matches. He had just one super 10 in last 4 games. And even in this final he had at one point of time just 2 points from 10 raids.

Everything was suggestive at an off-day office for Arjun. And he proved everyone wrong by picking up a multi-point raid within 5 minutes of second half.

Then the defense of Jaipur came to the party to put the final lid in the coffin. Sunil Kumar their captain took the initiative and made some extreme tackles. He ended the game with a high five to his name. While Arjun and Ajith Kumar the two raiders also had 6 points each to their names.

In the end, it was just a matter of four points that separated Puneri Paltan from their maiden title.

This victory makes them the only team to have ever won a second title. The other team is Patna Pirates who has 3 title to their name.
