Dabang Delhi’s Star Raider Naveen Kumar Sidelined for PKL 2023 Season Due to Knee Injury

Dabang Delhi KC, a prominent team in the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL), has been dealt a severe blow as their star raider and captain, Naveen Kumar, has been ruled out for the remainder of the PKL 2023 Season 20. The devastating news comes in the wake of a knee injury suffered by Naveen during a match against Jaipur Pink Panthers on December 27.

Surgery and Recovery Timeframe

The injury has necessitated surgical intervention, and Naveen Kumar is set to undergo right-knee ligament surgery. The recovery process is anticipated to extend over six months, depriving the Dabang Delhi side of their key player for the crucial stages of the ongoing PKL season. In an official statement, the PKL franchise expressed the unfortunate development, stating, “In the aftermath of the injury sustained on December 27th during the match against Jaipur, Naveen Kumar of Dabang Delhi K.C. will not be able to participate further in the ongoing season of Pro Kabaddi League 10.”

The franchise assured that under the guidance of medical experts, Naveen would receive comprehensive treatment, including therapies and surgical procedures, with the management of Dabang Delhi K.C. overseeing the process diligently. Naveen Kumar had been a standout performer this season, achieving a milestone by becoming the fastest player in the history of the Pro Kabaddi League to reach 1000 raid points. His remarkable contributions to the team’s success, both as a leader and a top-performing raider, made him an indispensable asset for Dabang Delhi.

Leadership Transition: Ashu Malik Takes Charge

With Naveen Kumar out of contention, the leadership baton has been passed to Ashu Malik, who will lead the Dabang Delhi side for the remainder of the PKL 2023 season. Currently occupying the 2nd position in the points table, Dabang Delhi KC faces the challenge of maintaining their momentum without their star raider.

Durganath Wagle, the CEO of Dabang Delhi Kabaddi Club, expressed solidarity with Naveen Kumar during this challenging period. “His injury is a blow to our team, and we stand with him during these tough times. His leadership and outstanding performance have been instrumental for us, and we are committed to providing him with the best possible care during his rehabilitation,” Wagle stated. As the PKL 2023 season progresses, Dabang Delhi KC navigates the tournament without their star raider, hoping for a swift recovery and planning for a strong comeback in subsequent editions.
