Pro Kabaddi: Chandran Ranjit of Gujarat Giants scores 20 points to help his team win 51-45 agaisnt UP Yoddhas in highest scoring match of season 9

PKL season 9 witnessed one of the highest scoring encounter played between Gujarat Giants and UP Yoddhas. It was a battle of raiders, hence high score was always on the cards. And the raiders from either team did not disappoint.

Both Gujarat and UP came into the game with different ambitions and ideas. While UP who had secured a victory in their previous match against Bengaluru was looking to built on it.

Gujarat was reveling after their low scoring defeat against Jaipur to get back to winning ways.

The game started in the right way, as Chandran Ranjit picked up some crucial points for his team. However, they couldn’t save for long and UP inflicted the first all out on them.

For the most part of the first half UP Yoddhas were on top of the game. But only just. The Gujarat’s team didn’t let them get a complete grip on the game. Courtesy to some great raiding by Chandran Ranjit.

At the halftime, the teams went to their respective dugouts at 19-21 in favour of UP.

Gujarat Giants’ resurgence in second half against UP Yoddhas

The second half however had a different story. And this was because Chandran Ranjit got some support from his fellow raider Rakesh Sungroya.

Together these raiders picked up a total of 36 points out of 51 between themselves. Out of these Chandran Ranjit picked 20 and Rakesh picked 16.

UP Yoddhas’ Surendra Gill fought till his last breath to revive the game. But their defense couldn’t stop Gujarat’s raiders.

Hence despite 31 point being picked by Gill and Pradeep, UP suffered a defeat by a margin of 6 points.

The match ended at 51-45 in favor of Gujarat Giants. And turned out to be one of the highest scoring game of the season.

Chandran Ranjit scores 20 points alone

Chandran Ranjit, who was out of form thus far in the season, was named as the player of the match for his great performance.

Ranjit picked up 20 points in total out of which 11 came in the form of touches and 8 in bonuses alone and 1 in tackle. This tells you the kind of all round performance he put on today.

This victory takes Gujarat Giants 6th on the points table. They now rest one spot above UP Yoddha who have 13 points in their 5 games.
