Official: Luis De La Fluente becomes the new coach of Spain

The Spanish footballing federation did indeed announced today that one of the greatest coach to ever manage Spain, Luis Enrique has officially resigned from his position. And this news regarding Enrique’s future was almost confirmed after La Roja’s shocking World Cup loss in the Round of 16 against the African side Morocco. Luis had even said that after a few days, an announcement would be made regarding his future.

And since his departure was almost confirmed, there were many candidates that were rumoured to be the next coach of Spain. And in the end, there were two names which were the most linked and they were, Roberto Martinez who is now the former Belgium coach and the other one is Luis De La Fluente who was the Under-21 manager for Spain. However, now the dust has settled cause it is confirmed by the federation that De La Fluente has been appointed as Luis Enrique’s successor.

“Both the president, Luis Rubiales, and the sporting director, Jose Francisco Molina, have told the coach their decision. The new coach will make his debut in March for Euro 2024 qualifiers, taking charge of his first games against Norway and Scotland.” the RFEF (football association) said in a statement. De la Fuente has been part of the Spanish set-up since 2013 and has coached their youth teams. He led Spain to a silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He will be presented as the coach on the 12th of December.
