Mark Wood unlikely to play in first Test against Pakistan due to injury

Mark Wood is certain to miss the opening Test of the Pakistan-England series, according to sources.

Mark Wood, England’s pace spearhead, is doubtful for the first Test against Pakistan due to a hip injury sustained during the just-finished T20 World Cup 2022. Wood’s injury came during England’s triumphant T20 World Cup campaign, causing him to miss both the semi-final and final against India and Pakistan.

After 2005, the England Cricket Team will play a Test Series in Pakistan. The Men in Green would be overjoyed, as there had been fears about the Test Series due to the assassination attempt on former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

This Test Series is critical for Pakistan since they still have a chance to compete in the World Test Championship Final in 2021-23. They are now ranked third with a 75 percentile. The Men in Green would be aware that they cannot afford to take England lightly and would be keen to sabotage the event.

Mark Wood Ruled Out of 1st Test Match.

Earlier it was expected that Wood would be fit for the 1st Test Match but now it looks unlikely that he would be fit.

Skipper Ben Stokes was asked about whether the management would call up a replacement for Mark Wood “No, we’re sticking with it. We’re not going to call up another seamer to this group.”

“We took the decision to let Brooky and Woody spend that time at home, obviously being at Pakistan and the World Cup, We felt a week at home for them would be more beneficial, just to get their batteries recharged, and obviously with Woody’s injury, getting home and being around his wife and child would be better than being out here and getting all his rehab, which he could do at home,” he added.

Mark Wood was one of England’s most successful bowlers during the T20 World Cup 2022, taking nine wickets.
