According to various reports in the Spanish media, Marcos Alonso appears to be closing in on the move to join Barcelona. And he is waiting every single day so that both the clubs could reach an agreement and he could to return to Spain once again in his career.
But this deal is halted cause Barca are still not convinced to sign him; hence, they haven’t really gone ahead with this move. This is mainly because of the sensational form that Alejandro Balde is displaying at the left-back position and cause of that Xavi is fully counting on him.
Xavi Alonso hoping for Chelsea exit
A few months ago, the La Liga side wanted to loan out Balde so that he could play first-team minutes elsewhere and even Barca could save the wages which would help them financially and this was because Xavi did not count on him and it was almost certain that they would sign Alonso who would be the backup of Alba.
However, during pre-season the coach gave Balde a chance and during those minutes, he played extremely well and that continued for the next few games which resulted in him getting ahead of Alba who has been the first choice left back for the club for many years. And it is believed that Alba might be the backup of Balde.
Now Xavi clearly wants to sign Alonso and if indeed he arrives, it would very interesting for the situation of Jordi Alba cause at the moment it is clearly seen that the coach is rebuilding the team and the arrival of Alonso could harm more minutes of Alba instead of Balde. But first Barca needs to make some departures in order to sign the Spaniard and with just 2 days left in the transfer window, both the clubs need to make a decision soon.
