Liverpool Transfers: Ben Doak Told to Leave After Gakpo Deal Agreed

Liverpool’s youngster Ben Doak has reportedly been told that he “definitely” needed to leave the club on loan if the Cody Gakpo January transfer from PSV Eindhoven was successfully completed.

Liverpool seems to have successfully beaten their Premier League rivals, Manchester United to get a hold of Gakpo after the official announcement by PSV on Monday that they had reached on a mutual agreement with Liverpool.

Liverpool set to sign Dutchman Cody Gakpo

Fabrizio Romano, the football transfer expert, had claimed that Cody Gakpo was all set to sign a six year long deal with the Merseyside club after he completes his medical.

Jurgen Klopp-led Liverpool has paid an initial £37m sum to acquire the Netherlands international, however, the sum could see a rise to £45m with additional amounts.

Gakpo’s arrival would not be complete until the 1st of January. This would provide Klopp’s front with an amazing attacking formation, which includes the like of Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, and Roberto Firmino already present at the Merseyside club.

However, this signing of Gakpo could limit the opportunities of the first-team of younger generation of players, which includes the 17-year-old winger, Ben Doak.

Ben Doak to leave Liverpool

Ben Doak, who was part of the Scotland U21 had joined Liverpool from Celtic previously this year, and has had a seemingly bright beginning in the life of English football.

Doak made his senior debut in the Carabao Cup game against Derby County last month, and also received his Premier League debut back in Monday’s 3-1 win against Aston Villa.

He also became the youngest ever Scottish player to make an appearance in the prestigious Premier League.

However, former Scotland international, Alan Hutton has stated that he believes that Ben Doak should be given the permission to leave Liverpool in the coming January to acquire more first-team experience away from the Merseyside club.

Hutton was asked if Doak should be seeking a move on loan, to which he responded to the sources and said,

“Yes, definitely.”

“I think Klopp sees him in the Liverpool starting line-up in the future, but maybe not at this moment in time because they are going to bring in different players from different positions to strengthen right now.”

“Players like Doak are obviously the future. But the opportunity has to be there for them to go out and play football on loan.”

“But it has to be the right club, it has to fit their style of football. I expect it to happen if the right club is found.”
