Junior Super Kings: CSK announce 7th edition of Inter-School tournament; know details

The wait for the junior fans of Chennai Super Kings is finally over as the franchise has announced the dates for the 7th edition of the Junior Super Kings Inter-School T20 tournament.

The Tamil Nadu based franchise made the big announcement on social media yesterday regarding the tournament being taking place. In the post, Chennai Super Kings coach Stephen Fleming along with other organisers can be seen unveiling the jerseys and Trophy for the tournament.

Junior Super Kings Inter-School tournament will be a huge thing in Tamil Nadu and its districts. It will include 86 teams and the tournament will be played across 15 districts of the state: Chennai, Trichy, Villupuram, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Salem, Erode, Vellore, Ranipet, Madurai, Dindigul, Tirunelveli, Tuticorin, Tenkasi and Kanyakumari.

Talking about the tournament, CSK’s CEO Vishwanathan reminded everyone about the importance of the same.

“Junior Super Kings was first launched in 2012 as a 32-team tournament in Chennai. Since then, it has grown into a pan-Tamil Nadu tournament unearthing talent from across the state… Chennai Super Kings has always believed in giving back to the sport and Junior Super Kings is an important part of our plans to develop grassroot cricket across Tamil Nadu.

“The tournament has provided platforms for players like Shahrukh Khan, Washington Sundar and Sai Sudarshan among others. I am sure many future stars will be identified this year as well,” he said.

Head Coach Stephen Fleming also put weight on the importance of the tournament for youngster who dream of playing for their favorite franchise. He ended his statement with a wish for the players to play hard and fair.

Details about 7th edition of Juniper Super Kings inter-School tournament:

  • The tournament is set to begin from 26th December 2022 and will last until 22nd January 2023. And will be played in two phases.
  • The first phase of the tournament from 26th December to 10th January will be a see a knockout format across Chennai and other districts of Tamil Nadu. This phase is supposed to procure 2 teams from Chennai, and 6 winners from each other district.
  • These teams will then be partaking in the second phase of the tournament which will be a league format starting from 18th January to 22nd Jan. the final of the tournament will be played under the lights.
  • Super King’s Academy’s digital platform is said to have a complete coverage of entire tournament. However, only the second phase matches will be live streamed on the platform.
  • Furthermore, Chennai super Kings will take care of the lodging and boarding of all the teams and players participating in the tournament.
  • Merchandise and caps will be provided by the tournament organizers. And every game is said to have a separate presentation ceremony for Best Bowler, Best Batsman, Player of the Tournament and Player of the Final.
