Jordan Henderson Joins Al Ettifaq for £12m, Leaves Liverpool

Premier League giants, Liverpool’s captain armband holder Jordan Henderson has finally and officially completed his transfer to the Saudi Pro League club Al Ettifaq for 3 years.

 The former Liverpool captain now reunites with their club legend Steven Gerrard who had previously taken up the offer by Al Ettifaq as their new manager in Saudi Arabia.

According to the sources, it was revealed during the beginning of the month of July that with the move of Gerrard, he had also wished to get his former teammate Henderson as one of the first signings by him at Saudi.

And now finally the deal has been officially penned down by Henderson and Al Ettifaq for 12 million euros, and with that comes the end of another era of the veteran at the Anfield Stadium for the last 12 years.

Earlier, a lengthy farewell message was posted by the midfielder for his fans on Wednesday while also receiving a parting statement from Liverpool. The statement had wished their former captain well in his new endeavor after he had aided Liverpool in one of their significantly important timelines.

The long statement issued by the club read that with the move to Al Ettifaq in the Saudi Pro League, Henderson’s chapter at Anfield comes to an end and everyone from Liverpool Football Club wishes well with gratitude for all the heart and soul that he had poured into the club during the 12 years of his stay in the red jersey.

The midfielder had signed the deal with Liverpool back in 2011 from Sunderland and despite struggling to make his mark on the club at the first few seasons, he managed to emerge as one of the most eminent players in his later years at the Merseyside club.

His prominence in the team especially came to the limelight during his time under Brendan Rodgers during the 2013/14 season where they had bottled the Premier League cup and later after Gerrard departed in 2015, he was awarded with the captain’s armband for his contribution.
