Harmanpreet Kaur’s interest in cricket came when she enrolled at the Gian Jyoti School Academy, 20 miles from her home in Moga. Her coach’s name was Kamaldeesh Singh Sodhi. 

Kaur’s father was a Volleyball and Basketball player. Her mother was a homemaker, and her sister was an assistant professor at Guru Nanak College in Moga with a PG degree in English.
