Mirror reports that the original charges levelled against Giggs are of assaulting his ex-girlfriend Kate Greville. She has accused the 48-year-old of kicking her out of a room of a 5-star hotel in Dubai while she was naked.

In her official statement, Greville had said that Giggs flipped when she noticed him messaging another woman. “He dragged me into the lounge… threw my suitcase… and shut the door,” she added.

Furthermore, Giggs is also charged with showing coercive behaviour and controlling her on two different occasions in 2017 and 2020.

The trail was initially supposed to take place in January. But the pandemic caused the court to have a worsened backlog. Which resulted in the Giggs vs Greville case being postponed. Now the trial is alleged to last for the next ten days.

Giggs, for now, has denied all charges levelled against him. However, he has decided to step down from his position as the manager of the Welsh international team. He said he does not want to hamper his team’s preparation heading into the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
