Cody Gakpo Completes £35m Signing With Liverpool; know details

Cody Gakpo, the 23-year-old forward is all set to officially become a Reds beauty as he signs the £35m worth player’s contract for the January transfer window till 2028 after he agreed to the personal terms and sucessfully completed his medical at the AXA Training Centre.

Gakpo will be arriving with a stunning World Cup performace to back him up with the Netherlands, where he netted 3 goals within 5 appearances alongside icon Virgil van Dijk, helping their nation reach till the quarterfinals of the tournament.

Before the pausing of club football for the global showpiece in Qatar, he was his league’s top goalscorer and assister, he led with 9 and 12, respectively.

He spoke of his mindset about the transfer, and said that he felt really good and was excited to be there. He also said that he was looking forward to start training and playing for the amazing club. He continued saying,

“I think this is a great club for me to come in and try to show what I can and try to help the team to achieve more beautiful moments that they already did in the past years.”

“I think for me personally it’s also good to develop here and there’s a lot of great players here I can learn a lot of things from.”

Gakpo was born and raised in Eindhoven and is a product of the youth system of PSV and has prossed through the ranks before he made his senior debut back in February 2018.

He is all set to wear jersey number 18 at Liverpool after making a total of 159 appearances for the hometown club, where he scored 55 time.

Gakpo, who has made 14 appearances for the Netherlands till date and has scored six goals, went further ahead to say that he had heard a lot of great stories about Liverpool’s stadium and its atmosphere and that he couldn’t wait to play at Anfield.

Gakpo also opened up about his aim for joining the Merseyside club, that is, to win as many prizes as he could with the team, along with performing well and showing the world what he can do as a player and with team. He also said he wished to keep developing and become a better player each season.

“I’m really thankful that everybody is giving me such a warm welcome and I’m really looking forward to seeing everybody in the stadium and around the city,” Gakpo added.
