Chelsea and Marseille Initiate Talks Over Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Premier League club Chelsea’s striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is said to have made an agreement over personal terms for a contract which will take him three years with the French Ligue 1 club, Marseille as per Fabrizio Romano.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to join Marseille for 3-year deal

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been through a pretty rough season while struggling to make his own place in the club after joining the Blues in the Stamford Bridge right from Barcelona’s Camp Nou in the previous season.

Aubameyang, despite making a total of 22 appearances for Chelsea the last season, has disappointingly managed to only score thrice.

However, Chelsea had purchased him for about 12 million pounds only with the hopes that former coach Thomas Tuchel will be reunited with the player, but Tuchel ended up being fired mere days after he arrived.

After the sacking of former coach Tuchel back in September, Aubameyang has been fighting for his life under new coach Graham Potter so that he can make a lasting impression. However, Aubameyang was still left warming the bench out of their Champion’s League squad ever since the January signings.

In this cloudy situation, a return to France might as well aid the striker in building himself anew and a fresh opportunity to reinvent his form and footing in the game again.

Chelsea and Marseille might reach agreement over Aubameyang

On the drawback side of the deal, Aubameyang might have to sacrifice a huge sum from is current pay which is about 150,000 pounds-per-week if he does seriously move away from the Premier League.

As for the Blues, they are reported to have straight up made demands from Marseille that would only accept 5-6 million pounds from their end in case they want the services of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Marseille will finally be making a comeback to the UEFA Champions League in the coming season after their final position in the French league had been third in the previous season; hence, they are out to fill the gaps and increase their arsenal of players who could guide their squad through the European waters.

With Pochettino already making six new additions for the first team already this season, including the likes of Christopher Nkunku, Andrey Santos, etc. it is not long before Chelsea get off extra load like Aubameyang to make more space in terms of funds.
