Manchester City is looking to offload several players in this summer transfer window. And their newest player, all ready to leave the club, is Raheem Sterling.

According to internet reports, Chelsea has agreed on fees with Manchester City. The transfer will go through once Sterling clears his medical at Stamford Bridge.

Raheem Sterling contract details

BBC, in their report, has published that the deal agreed upon by Chelsea and Manchester City amounts to up to £50m, including add-ons. It will be a five-year deal with an option of further negotiations.

Raheem Sterling will be the first significant signing made by Chelsea this summer. Especially after the takeover by the Ted Boehly-led consortium.

It is understood that the deal has taken place amicably between Sterling and Manchester City. The player was looking for a newer challenge, while the club already had made significant inroads in this market. Hence, the deal came into an agreement.

Sterling might join Chelsea and stay in England. But that doesn’t mean he didn’t have other overseas clubs. Significant clubs like Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich were believed to be interested in the player’s services.

However, Sterling was most impressed by Thomas Tuchel’s vision. And decided to join the rival club, Chelsea. Also, it seems that the goals of Tuchel align with that of Sterling. Therefore, it will be interesting to see the duo pair up.

Sterling to boost Chelsea’s attacking options

Tuchel had had his handful with attacking options to fiddle with. Now that his best striker Romelu Lukaku has joined Chelsea, he will be looking for a boost. And Sterling can perhaps provide that.

Despite a poor run of form, Lukaku was the highest scorer for Chelsea last season. He scored a handful of just 15 goals. While the other highest scorers were Havertz (14) and Mount (13).

Sterling, on the other hand, has been the second-highest goal scorer for City in the past six years. He has 120 goals for Pep Guardiola. The highest is by Sergio Aguero 124.  Further, he scored 13 goals in his 30 appearances last season.

This is more than handy for him to be considered a goal-scoring alternate by Tuchel.

Let’s hope the signing helps both the parties involved.
