Chelsea “Accelerates” Enzo Fernandez Deal Negotiations with Benfica

Chelsea has “accelerated” their attempts to grab Enzo Fernandez deal with Benfica according to several sources including the popular transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

“Direct negotiations” between the two clubs have been opened according to the famous rumour-aggregator, Romano this morning.

According to rumours directly from Argentina, Chelsea is currently “accelerating” their desperate attempts to make the deal happen quickly in the January transfer window. However, Benfica have already made certain official statements which contradict everything.

Fernandez agrees terms with Chelsea

Chelsea could have avoided the whole fiasco of dealing with Benfica altogether by simply paying the release clause for the Argentine “Young Player”. However, Chelsea seems to have chosen the lengthy way by trying to make Benfica actually agree to the transfer, since it would save them quite a bit on cash.

Chelsea would anyway have to empty their pockets quite a bit because the 21-year-old costs now much more than he did pre-World Cup. Which would mean that Benfica are going to make a killer sum at nearly 10× of what they had paid 6 months earlier for Enzo, irrespective of the transfer happening in January or summer 2023.

However, while the statements of Benfica declare clearly that they are not open to negotiations, some sources have claimed that there are still “minimal” chances that they are relenting in their stance.

On the contrary, several other sources from Argentina are simply stating that Chelsea are very “close” and that the negotiations are “advanced”. But they don’t specify where the negotiations are finalized with the club itself or only the player himself who has agreed, which is nothing more than just a formality.
