Breaking: Cristiano Ronaldo Joins Al-Nassr for record fees; know contract details

After a lot of speculations and doubts, it has finally been confimed. Cristiano Ronaldo has finally signed a record breaking deal with the Saudi Arabian club Al- Nassr.

The five-time Ballon D’Or champion was ousted from Manchester United in the buildup to the world cup. He was involved in some spat with the club after an interview with English journalist Piers Morgan.

Following this interview Ronaldo’s boyhood club decided to terminate his contract. And it was reported that his agent Jorge Mendes tried his level best to find him a European club. But that could not be arranged in the given time.

That is when Al-Nassr came through with a very lucrative offer. And after failing to find any European club, Cristiano Ronaldo has finally joined the Saudi Arabian league.

Cristiano Ronaldo Contract details

According to Fabrizio Romano, Ronaldo has signed a 2-and-a-half-year contract with the club. Meaning that Ronaldo will be staying at the club until 2025.

In that period, he will be paid with a total salary that has been reported close to 200m Euros per year. This amount also includes commercial deals.

This has made Ronaldo the highest paid footballer on the planet. And this deal the biggest negotiation between a player and a club, breaking all previous records.

What does it mean for footballing world?

This deal of Ronaldo with Al-Nassr is definitely a game changer for the Arab countries. After being able to host the FIFA 2022 World Cup, they will now have one of the greatest player playing for them.

Which means that the exposure to football in this part of the world will increase tremendously. As people will be more eager to see the star in action at club, further leading to the brand awareness of Al-Nassr and a steep incline in commercial value as well.

It will be interesting to see how things turn out for Ronaldo personally in this new country. This will be the first time in the 2 decades of his career that he will play for a club outside of Europe.

He has been a top-rated player in Europe for the whole of his career. And although he bowed out of the World Cup in earlier stages, he has achieved enough in his life to be called one of the greatest if not The Greatest.
