Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele agrees to join PSG

Ousmane Dembele has agreed to join PSG on a five-year deal. The French club are keen to activate his €50 million release clause, which expires on August 1.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Dembele has said yes to a move to PSG. The French giants also have a verbal agreement with Dembele’s agent. However, his release clause will be €100 million if PSG does not sign him until August 1.

PSG ready to sign Dembele for just €50 million

The French winger joined Barcelona in 2018 from Borussia Dortmund for a fee of €105 million. He was signed back then as a replacement for Neymar. However, several injuries at the start of his career made it difficult for Dembele to perform at a high level.

Moreover, after his contract expired last summer, his agent gave Barcelona a hard time while negotiating a new deal. In the end they agreed to sign a two-year deal until 2024 with a release clause.

If Paris Saint Germain triggers his release clause, half of the amount, that is €25 million, will go to Barcelona, and the other half will go to his agent Mousa Sissoko.

Who will replace Ousmane Dembele at Barcelona?

Barcelona are already in a financial mess, and if Dembele leaves it will make it difficult for them to replace him. Moreover, Gerard Romero said that Barcelona will practically start a ‘football war’ against PSG.

The club will go to UEFA and demand PSG’s compliance with FFP regulations, as well as to show the origin of the French’s club economic power.

If the Frenchman leaves the club will be able to remove his high wages. The club will look to sign a full-back with the money. Their plan A is to sign Joao Cancelo, with Ivan Fresneda as the backup option.

The club will also try to sign Bernardo Silva, as Xavi would love his signing. Man City will demand €80 million for their midfielder.

Moreover, it also increases Ez Abde’s chances to stay at the club. The Catalans will only sell him if an offer of €30 million or above arrives.
