Barcelona can earn around €6-8 million from former centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo’s sale in the upcoming transfer window.

The Catalan club have tried to offload many players in the past transfer windows, but they have failed to do so. Moreover, knowing their financial situation, other clubs try to get the deal done by offering less money.

So, most of the outgoing transfers that have taken place are either free transfers or on minimal transfer fees.

How will Barcelona earn money from Jean-Clair Todibo’s sale?

Nevertheless, the club then decided to include several clauses in players’ contracts. These contracts will help them either buy them back in the near future or earn money after they join another club or play enough games for their current club.

Barca have already benefited this way from Estanis Pedrola’s sale. Pedrola joined Sampdoria in the summer and helped the club earn €3 million after making 10 appearances.

Similarly, Barcelona sold Jean-Clair Todibo in the summer of 2021, with OGC Nice shelling out €8.5 million for his services. The Catalans had reserved a 20% sell-on clause in his contract, which is expected to come to fruition soon.

Who will sign Jean-Clair Todibo?

Todibo could’ve left Nice in the summer as Manchester United were lining up a move for him. However, they couldn’t sell Harry Maguire and decided to opt against buying Todibo.

Big European clubs are eyeing a move for him, and Nice could be tempted to sell him in the upcoming transfer window. The French club want around €30-40 million for him, which will secure €6-8 million for Barcelona, depending on the final fees.

After sending him on loan to Schalke, Benfica, and then selling him to Nice, Barcelona have already earned €12 million. The amount could easily cross €20 million, especially if a bidding war starts.

Considering they signed him for just €1 million in 2019 from Toulouse, this deal will benefit the club.
