Arsenal Get £60m Bid for Moises Caicedo Rejected by Brighton

Premier League table toppers, Arsenal have had a rotten luck after having a £60m bid rejected for the Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo.

Arsenal bid for Brighton’s Moises Caicedo

Brighton had insisted that their Caicedo was not up for sale in the January transfer window, despite that Arsenal went ahead to try out their luck, failed, and are still reportedly deciding on whether they should get back to the south-coast club with a better offer.

However, according to the sources, Arsenal might still be keen to sign Declan Rice in the upcoming summer irrespective whether they sign Caicedo or not.

Arsenal’s bid to Brighton for Caicedo had been the biggest transfer fee they have received ever in their history, a whopping £60m. Brighton had bought the midfielder for only £4.5m two years ago.

Chelsea interested in Caicedo

Chelsea apparently, are also interested in signing the same midfielder, Caicedo. But this rumour of a deal seems even more unlikely since the two clubs are not in the same league regarding their valuations.

Brighton’s head coach had earlier stated that Caicedo was completely focused on Brighton and had also urged to the midfielder to stay with them at least till summer. He stated that Caicedo was a good guy and that it was the best solution for both of them for him to remain at Brighton.

De Zerbi, Brighton coach went on to add that he understands why bigger teams were after young players now, but the decision was for the players and their current clubs to make. And that after talking to Caicedo earlier he had shared his opinion why mid-season change was difficult.

Zerbi also added that their conversation was not like that of a coach, but like that of a father. He said that he understood that the opportunity meant to go to a very big club and that he had advised Caicedo for both his career and life.

Moises caicedo still has a good 2.5 years left on his contract and it reportedly unlikely to strike a new deal with the premier league giants. This has become even clearer after Caicedo addressed the transfer rumours earlier this week.

He talked about his future saying that he is currently “focused only” on Brighton. He said that what happened outside did not bother him at all and it does not take away his focus, which is only “here”.
