Watch: Rohit Sharma breaks down after India’s defeat in the T20 World cup semis

The England thumping leaves Rohit Sharma in tears.

Following India’s most recent World cup ousting, the Indian captain Rohit Sharma was caught in tears.

On Thursday, England defeated India by 10 wickets in the second semi-final at the Adelaide Oval (November 10). Alex Hales and Jos Buttler smashed fifties and never gave India a shot as England cruised to victory. The Indian camp looked disheartened after the game, while skipper Rohit Sharma was absolutely shattered.

The Indian skipper also broke down, and even Indian head coach Rahul Dravid consoled him. Before Dravid spoke with Rohit, he was seen sitting alone and gazing down the entire time. Along with him, Rishabh Pant appeared despondent following a painful loss against England.

Post-match reaction from skipper Rohit Sharma.

After the game, Rohit Sharma said that he was disappointed with his team’s performance. He believes it all comes down to how players handle pressure in knockout matches, and he also points out that the players have a lot of experience playing in those scenarios in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

“Pretty disappointed how it turned out today. We batted well at the back end to get that score. We were not upto the mark with the ball, we couldn’t turn up today.

It’s all about handling the pressure in knockout games. All these guys have played enough to understand that. These guys have played under pressure in IPL games, it’s all about keeping calm.

“We were nervy to start with, but you got to give credit to their openers, they played really well. I thought it swung a bit in the first over, but not from the right areas. We know the runs are scored square of the wicket, we were aware about it. When we won the first game, it showed a lot of character.

The game against Bangladesh, it was a tricky one. I thought we held our nerve and kept executing our plans. Couldn’t do that today,” Rohit said in the post-match presentation.
