Top Scorer World Cup 2022: Mbappe wins Golden Boot for 8 Goals

In a stunning game that jolted football fans around the globe, which wrote history in the Lusail iconic Stadium in Qatar, Lionel Messi-led Argentina fulfilled their dream of lifting their much-desired FIFA World Cup trophy, after beating France on penalties.

Argentina utterly dominated the invisible French team throughout the first half of the iconic match, giving them a head start in the game with Messi’s penalty and Di Maria’s goal.

Whatever might be the end results, there was one player who etched his name in the history of football with immortal ink. It was none other than the French icon Kylian Mbappe, who won the Golden Boot as top-scorer of the tournament.

France might have lost but Kylian Mbappe proved his worth to the world that why he, individually is more than worthy of the World Cup trophy, which he has already won in his debut FIFA. At just 23, he has already become the 6th highest goalscorer in FIFA WC history.

Kylian Mbappe was alone responsible for making this year’s FIFA grand finale as one of the best ever finals played in the history of the tournament and also almost crushing Lionel Messi’s eternal dream of winning the World Cup.

The 23-year-old Kylian Mbappe scored the first hat-trick in the finals of the World Cup in 54 years, the last one being in 1966. With this hat-trick he had single-handedly led the entire French nation into winning the World Cup with 8 total goals in this year’s tournament alone.

Bewilderingly, Kylian Mbappe is just 23, hasn’t reached his prime probably yet, and already has 12 total World Cup goals in 14 matches played in the tournament. With the first World Cup finale hat-trick since 1966, and a brace in 2018 finals, he almost led France into winning back-to-back title.

A moment of appreciation for this generational talent should be taken after his spectacular performance in the finals got overshadowed by Messi’s victory. Mbappe became a World Cup winner at 19, a World Cup finalist at 23, a Golden Boot winner at 23, and became the first player to score 7+ goals in a single FIFA Cup since Ronaldo in 2002.

We should all bow down to the king in making who might be competing for the title of ‘greatest of all time’ a decade more into his just started career after becoming the player with most goals in a World Cup aged 23 or less.
