Toni Kroos Will Extend Contract For Another Year After Previous Indications Of Retirement

Toni Kroos is set to stay at Real Madrid for at least one more season after agreeing a new deal until 2024. Reports claimed that Kroos previously rejected the offer of a new contract and was considering retirement before agreeing to put pen to paper.

Kroos to extent contract with Madrid

The midfielder was postponing his final decision all season long, as he wanted to see if his role and his current quality as a football player matched what he wanted to see. Kroos has always said that he wants to end his career while still on top and he doesn’t even contemplate a move to another club once his career in Madrid comes to an end.

It will be extremely important for Kroos to keep getting some proper rest and rotate often in order to maximize his potential as a starter next year, which is the role he’ll probably get.

Also, Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that he expects the veteran trio – Kroos is 33, while Benzema is 35 and Modric is 37 – to stay for at least another season.

Won Everything With Real Madrid

Kroos has been a mainstay in Real Madrid’s midfield since joining the club from Bayern Munich in 2014. He has made 405 appearances for the Spanish giants, scoring 27 goals and providing 88 assists.

The former Germany international formed a formidable trio with Luka Modric and Casemiro, winning numerous trophies. He has won four UEFA Champions League trophies and three La Liga titles with Los Blancos, among other honors.

The only trophy Kroos is yet to win is the Copa del Rey. He could win it on May 6, though, when Real Madrid face Osasuna in the final.

Kroos Reaction On Another Milestone with Real Madrid

Kroos becomes the sixth foreign player to reach the landmark of making 400 appearances for the club behind the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Marcelo, Karim Benzema, Roberto Carlos, and Luka Modric.

Toni Kroos expressed gratitude for making his 400th appearance for Real Madrid as the reigning La Liga champions battled from a goal down to earn a hard fought 3-1 win against Espanyol on Saturday, March 11. Kroos took to Twitter to express his appreciation as he acknowledged his time in Real Madrid could have gone a bit differently.
