Eight men’s teams and eight women’s teams from key cities throughout England and Wales compete in the professional franchise 100-ball cricket competition known as The Hundred. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) oversees the competition, which debuted in July and August of 2021.

Format of The Hundred

The Hundred Men’s Competition 2021 Winners
After beating Birmingham Phoenix at Lord’s thanks to Paul Stirling’s quick-fire 61 and some solid bowling, Southern Brave won the first-ever men’s title in The Hundred. In the end, the losing team’s efforts from the in-form Liam Livingstone proved too brief.
Ross Whiteley (44 off 19) hit four sixes of his own as Brave rallied from the early dismissals of Quinton de Kock (7) and skipper James Vince (4) and being 38-2 off 35 balls to post 168-5 from their 100 balls, with 138 runs coming for the final 65 deliveries. Stirling hit six sixes in his 36-ball innings at Lord’s.
In order to maintain the lead, brave seamers Craig Overton and George Garton held Phoenix to 14-2 from their first 20 deliveries. However, Livingstone (46 off 19) subsequently threatened to turn the game in Phoenix’s favor.
Tim David’s direct hit at the keeper’s end after tossing the ball in from the boundary brought the 28-year-old’s pulsating knock to an end, dealing a crushing blow to the Midlanders who could only muster 136-5 from their 100 balls and ended their five-match winning streak.
The Hundred Men’s Competition 2022 Winners
Lewis Gregory scored 11 runs in the final three balls at Lord’s to give Trent Rockets a dramatic two-wicket victory with two balls remaining, tying them with the 2022 champion Oval Invincibles women’s team.
Andy Flower, who is making a strong case to be recognized as one of the top short-format coaches available, orchestrated the triumph. Not only do his teams succeed, but they do so in accordance with a consistent philosophy that emphasizes the importance of keeping left- and right-handed partnerships at the crease to take advantage of advantageous match-ups, a diverse bowling attack that includes left-arm pace bowlers and spinners who can bowl both ways and a team full of all-rounders who can give the team versatility and depth with both bat and ball.
No Trent batsman made it past the 20-run mark, but the team still had the ingenuity to chase down 121 after Sam Cook had taken four for 18 by moving the new ball and throwing yorkers at the end to keep Manchester Originals to 120 for nine.
The Hundred Men’s Competition 2023 Winners
On August 27, at Lord’s in London, Oval Invincibles defeated Manchester Originals by 14 runs in the Men’s Hundred 2023 final. Oval Invincibles, who were sent to bat after losing the toss, set up a magnificent 161/5 on the scoreboard. Manchester Originals were held to 147/6 in response.
Oval Invincibles, who were batting first, had a disastrous start, losing five wickets for 34 runs. Nonetheless, Tom Curran (67* off 34) and James Neesham (57* off 33) launched a stunning counter-attack to lift Oval Invincibles to 161/5. The duo featured in an unbroken 127-run stand for the sixth wicket.
After a decent start, Manchester Originals lost half their side for 72. Max Holden (37 off 25) gave the batting side hope before Sam Curran trapped him lbw. Jamie Overton (28* off 19) and Tom Hartley (16* off 8) attempted a late revival, but it wasn’t enough.
The Hundred Women’s Competition Winners List 2021-2023
The maiden edition of The Hundred 2021 was won by Oval Invincibles (Women’s), beating Southern Brave in the finals. Marizanne Kapp won the Player of the Match award in the finals. While Dane Van Niekerk won the Player of the Series award in the women’s category and scored the most 259 runs.
Notably, Oval Invincibles defended their Hundred title thanks to Marizanne Kapp’s nerveless, unbeaten innings of 37 off 33 to steer them past Southern Brave in a rematch of the previous year’s final.
In 2023, Southern Brave finally won their first women’s Hundred title after Danni Wyatt starred in a final victory over Northern Superchargers. The England all-rounder helped Anya Shrubsole’s team win by 34 runs at Lord’s on Sunday by scoring 59 runs off of 38 deliveries.
A fitting finish to a spectacular career for departing captain Shrubsole, who took the game-winning wicket in England’s World Cup-winning victory against India at the home of cricket six years ago, it meant the Brave, runner-ups in the first two finals, finally got their hands on the trophy.
