Texas Super Kings kick off MLC campaign with 69 runs win against LAKR

The much-anticipated Major League Cricket kicked off in the USA when Texas Super Kings took on Los Angeles Knight Riders in the season opener which the former won comfortably by 69 runs courtesy of a spirited performance by the bowlers of Texas Super Kings.

Faf goes without Scoring

Electing to bowl first Knight Riders were off to a good start as Super Kings lost their first wicket in the second over of the match when captain du Plessis was out on the first ball of the second over. Devon Conway who looked in good form added 31 runs for the second wicket with Lahiru Milantha who was dismissed for 17. In walked David Miller after the fall of the second wicket and looked in good form as he was timing the ball nicely. The South African left-hander scored the second fifty of the tournament after Devon Conway who scored 55 runs of 37 deliveries.

Devon Conway was dismissed after setting a good platform for the batters to come and capitalize and they did that as Santner who came in to bat at number six batted superbly and finished the inni0ngs well with a 14 ball 21 along with Dwayne Bravo who scored 16 of 6 balls helping the Super Kings reach a competitive total of 181 for 6. Lockie Ferguson was the pick of the bowlers for Knight Riders as he picked up two wickets giving away just 23 runs in his quota of 4 overs.

One Man Show for Knight Riders

Chasing 182 Knight Riders lost Martin Guptill on the third ball of the innings when he tried to take on Rusty Theron but was caught by DJ Bravo who took a simple catch. Rilie Russow who came in to bat after the fall of Guptill’s wicket was dismissed in the same after hitting a boundary. The Knight Riders kept on losing wickets at regular intervals as they slipped to 56 for 5 in 5.2 overs.

The Rescue Act

The West Indian pair Andre Russell and Sunil Narine had their task cut out as they added 47 runs for the sixth wicket. But once Narine was dismissed the writing was on the wall. resell kept on fighting at the other end but the power hitter did not get any support from the other end as a result he was dismissed after a well-made 34 ball 55 and the Knight Riders were all out for 112 handing a comfortable to the Texas Super Kings in the season opener. Mohmmad Mohsin picked up four wickets for the Super Kings.
