Social media left in splits as Rahkeem Cornwall gets run out while attempting a quick run

The social media was left in splits when Rahkeem Cornwall was run out while attempting a quick run in the second match of the Caribbean Premier League between Saint Lucia Kings and Barbados Royals.

Rakeem is known to be one of the heaviest cricketers and made headlines when he was selected for playing test matches against India in 2019. He impressed everybody through his power hitting in CPL 2018 and could also bowl some spin which pave the way for him to be selected in the West Indies squad.

Coming back to the match, chasing a target of over 200 runs Kings were looking for a good start. That’s when Cornwall took off for a quick single but found himself short of the crease by a fair distance.

Exchange of Words

This is not the first time that something of that sort has happened with the big man. He was also involved in a heated exchange of words with former West Indies captain Kieron Pollard as the former retired out in a CPL match Pollard who was the captain of the opposite team did not like that and expressed his displeasure about the same.

“I can’t change my body structure. I can’t say that I’m too tall or too big. Everybody is not going to be short, everybody is not going to be slim. All I can do is go out there, back myself and show my skill. “There’s no doubt about it I am a big guy, but I have to put in work. I don’t really get too bogged down and lazy about it. I spend a lot of time on my fitness. Try to eat properly,” he had said in a chat with ESPNCricinfo.

Fitness Issues

Cornwall has had fitness issues in the past as well with the latest being a chest infection that he suffered during the first test match against India which kept him off the field for the majority of the match as a result he was dropped from the second match of the series.

He also wasn’t the part of West Indies squad for limited-overs cricket during Pollard’s captaincy tenure and the situation hasn’t changed since his retirement.
