Shweta Sehrawat: A Journey Of Indian Women Cricketer

Shweta Sehrawat, born on 26 February 2004, is a 19-year-old Indian women’s cricketer. She plays as a right-handed batting all-rounder for the Delhi women’s cricket team and UP Warriorz. Known for her achievements in domestic and international competitions, Sehrawat made history by becoming the first Indian to score a fifty in the ICC Women’s Under-19 World Cup.

Shweta Sehrawat started playing domestic cricket for Delhi women in March 2021 and scored her first List-A hundred (118 runs) against Meghalaya women on March 17. In May 2021, she managed to balance her cricket commitments with her 12th board exams and received approval from NCA chief VVS Laxman to attend the camp after exams.

She displayed her talent in the NCA Under-19 zonal competition, scoring two centuries in six matches for the C team. Shweta made her Women’s Twenty20 debut in April 2022. In November 2022, she led the India B team to victory in the Women’s Under-19 Challenger Trophy, being the top-scorer with 163 runs at an average of 40.75. This showcased her leadership and batting skills. 

Shweta Sehrawat gained recognition in the Under-19 cricket circuit through her outstanding performances and leadership skills. She showcased her talent while playing for Delhi women’s under-19 team, earning a spot in the NCA Under-19 zonal competition. Despite facing academic commitments, her dedication was evident when she scored a century after joining the National Cricket Academy camp.

Her remarkable debut in Women’s Twenty20 cricket and consistent high scores in various tournaments, including the Women’s Under-19 Challenger Trophy and quadrangular series, contributed to her rising prominence. Sehrawat’s leadership qualities were highlighted when she captained India B to victory and later led India A to success in different competitions. Her standout performance as vice-captain in the 2023 ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup, where she scored a notable 92* against South Africa, further solidified her reputation as a rising cricket sensation in the under-19 category.
