Sergi Roberto Signs New Contract With Barcelona Until 2024.

FC Barcelona have confirmed that Sergi Roberto has signed a new contract with the club, extending his stay at Camp Nou for at least one more season.

The 31-year-old full-back was in the final four months of his contract with Barcelona but had made it imminent that he wants to continue at the club beyond the current season.

Sergi Roberto to sign contract extension till 2024

Sergi had also shown his intentions to join MLS in the coming 2 or 3 years. He will be 32 when his contract expires but he will stay with Barcelona for now and remains part of Xavi’s plans.

Roberto has made 23 appearances this season in all competitions for Barcelona, scoring against Valladolid, Athletic club, and Manchester United.

Manager Xavi Hernandez, for his part, had also shown support for Roberto’s extension as he offers versatility, experience, and tactical flexibility to his side, much like he had done last year as well.

Roberto could see more game time in the remainder of the season, particularly after Hector Bellerin’s exit, and as the fixtures list becomes more congested.

Sergi Roberto’s Affection With Barca

Sergi Roberto made his official debut for Barcelona on 10 November 2010 in a 5-1 Copa del Rey victory over Ceuta at Camp Nou. The versatile full-back is now an experienced member of the club and previously in 2017/18 season, he extended his contract.

He can play in midfield or at right back and he will be part of the Club’s history with his historic sixth goal in the famous 6-1 comeback victory over PSG in the 2016/17 Champions League. During his time with the Club, the La Masia-bred player has won 23 trophies with the first team.
