SA20 League: Faf du Plessis’ sensational knock of 92 helps JSK thrash SEC to reach semi-finals

SA20 League: Faf du Plessis led from the front for Joburg Super Kings (JSK) against Sunrisers Eastern Cape (SEC) at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg in the ongoing SA20 with Super Kings making it to the semi-final, alongside Pretoria Capitals. 

Faf du Plessis creates another masterclass in SA20

The opener scored 92 off 61 balls at a strike rate of 150.82, including four sixes and seven boundaries. The 38-year-old also shared a 119-run partnership with Reeza Hendricks (40) for the opening wicket.

Du Plessis recently scored 113 off 58 balls against the Durban Super Giants, including eight sixes and as many fours. JSK won that game by eight wickets.

With another gritty knock, the right-hander has also become the highest run-scorer in the tournament. He has 369 runs from nine games, including a ton and two half-centuries.

Joburg Super Kings march on to Semifinals of SA20

Joburg Super Kings won the toss and elected to bat, putting on a par total of 160/6 in their 20 overs.

Another sensational knock from Joburg Super Kings’ Faf du Plessis (92), supported by Reeza Hendricks (42), with the bat, combined to flatten Sunrisers Eastern Cape today, at The Wanderers, Joburg.

In the run chase, Gerald Coetzee 2-13, Kyle Simmonds 3-23 and Maheesh Theekshana 2-23 put pay to any hopes of the Sunrisers reaching their target – only Temba Bavuma 50 and Aiden Markram 34 made any impact with the bat. Sunrisers Eastern Cape scored 136/9.

That said, they face stiff competition from the likes of the other teams below them. Temba Bavuma, who joined the side after his phenomenal outing against England in the recently concluded ODI series, will be hungry to get the vital runs for his side.
