SA20 league: Donavon Ferreira powers Joburg Super Kings to a 16-run victory over Durban Super Giants

Donavon Ferreira showed a stellar all-round performance as the Super Kings started their campaign on high in the inaugural SA20 league.

Super Kings captain Faf du Plessis won the toss and elected to bat first only to find his side reeling at 28/4 inside the powerplay. He along with Donavan Ferreira got in together and stitched a partnership which revived the Super Kings.

Denovan Ferreira played a splendid innings of 82 runs from 40 balls which helped Super Kings reach a big score of 190/6. Ferreira’s innings included 8 fours and five sixes.

Super Giants start on a positive note

In reply, the Super Giants got off to a flier. Openers Quinton de Kock and Kyle Mayers provided a perfect start to their innings. The duo put on 98 for the first wicket.

de Kock played a fine innings of 78 runs from 52 balls with 5 fours and five sixes. He was looking to take the game away from the opposition before Ferreira starred with the ball too by picking up the dangerous de Kock.

The Super Kings came back into the match by running through the Super Giants middle order. They could not keep up with the momentum that de Kock and Mayers had built and eventually finished their innings at 174/5.

The Super Kings registered their first win by 16 runs after a good comeback with the ball. Donavon Ferreira was adjudged the man of the match for his match winning knock of 82 runs and one wicket.
