SA20 League: Aiden Markram scores first T20 Century; scores 100 in Semis to Power Sunrisers to final

In a high-scoring semi-final match, the Sunrisers Eastern Cape triumphed over the Joburg Super Kings in the inaugural SA20 tournament. Aiden Markram, the Sunrisers captain, stole the show with a maiden T20 hundred – a remarkable 100 off 58 deliveries.

This effort helped the Sunrisers post an unbeatable total of 213/5, despite a valiant attempt by the Joburg Super Kings, who were led by Reeza Hendricks’ 96 off 54 deliveries.

With this win, the Sunrisers will now face the league-leading Pretoria Capitals in the final, with the aim of being crowned as the first champions of the competition.

Sunrisers’ Resilience Pays Off

The Sunrisers and the Joburg Super Kings started the season by facing each other in successive games, with the latter winning both encounters.

However, the Sunrisers made a remarkable comeback, winning three games in a row and continuing this trend into the semi-finals.

Despite a shaky start, where they lost two wickets inside the second over, the Sunrisers fought back with determination, led by Markram’s brilliant hundred.

A Timeless Performance by Aiden Markram

From the very first scoring shot – a boundary over extra-cover off Williams, Markram had his timing and technique spot on. Aiden Markram began his innings with a boundary over extra cover, displaying his timing from the start.

He continued with a pair of fours in the next over from Nandre Burger, launching the Sunrisers into a counter-offensive. At the end of 10 overs, they had reached 72/2, setting the stage for an explosive performance.

Markram played an outstanding innings, contributing to the Sunrisers’ victory over the Joburg Super Kings. Jordan Hermann also made important contributions to secure the win.
