Roberto Firmino to join Al-Ahli on a free transfer

Roberto Firmino is ready to join Al-Ahli on a free transfer. The 31-year-old will sign with the Saudi club on a 3-year-deal after his Liverpool contract expired this summer.

Roberto Firmino becomes one of the big stars to join the Saudi Pro League. The likes of Ronaldo, Benzema, Kante, Koulibaly, Mendy and Neves have already joined different teams in the Saudi Pro League.

He will join former Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, who has already signed for the newly promoted side Al-Ahli.

After Liverpool decided not to renew with the Brazilian, he had offers from big clubs like Inter, Barcelona and Real Madrid. However, he has decided to leave Europe and will now join Al-Ahli.

Firmino formed a formidable partnership with Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah. They also won a lot of trophies together. However, the trio fell apart after Mane moved to Bayern Munich last summer.

Moreover, new signing Darwin Nunez was starting ahead of the Firmino last season. Liverpool have replaced both Mane and Firmino with Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez.

Roberto Firmino to join Al-Ahli after spending 8-years at Liverpool

Liverpool signed Roberto Firmino from TSG Hoffenheim in 2015 for £29 million. He instantly made an impact and was one of the fan favorites.

Since his debut in 2015, Firmino has made 362 appearances. He has scored 111 goals and 79 assists in his 8-year spell at the club.

Jurgen Klopp was a huge admirer of the Brazilian, and wanted Firmino to stay. But, the club decided not to renew his contract.

Liverpool look to re-build their midfield for next season

After missing out on the Champions League and going trophyless last season, the Reds will look to bounce back again next season on a high.

Klopp’s side lacked depth in midfield, and were unable to compete in matches. Naby Keita, James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have already left the club.

However, they have already secured the signing of World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton. According to reports, they have signed him for just £35 million, which is said to be his release clause.

RB Leipzig’s Dominik Szoboszlai is the next target for Liverpool. His release clause is around £60 million, which will expire on June 30. The Reds will look to trigger the release clause to sign the talented midfielder.
