Ranji Trophy: Riyan Parag plays blistering knock of 78 runs from 28 balls against Hyderabad

Ranji Trophy is the perfect stage for young cricketers to catch everyone’s eye. And Riyan Parag has done just that by his fiery knock of 78 from just 28 balls against Hyderabad on Wednesday.

Parag scored a blistering fifty off just 19 balls to put his team in a prime position at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad at Day 2 stumps.

Riyan Parag came to the crease when his side was struggling to get runs. Assam was 2 wickets down for the score of 29 while chasing the first inning lead of 208.

Their openers Rahul Hazarika and Kunal Saikia had failed to make an impact. Hence, the responsibility of taking his team to a better situation fell on Parag and he didn’t disappoint anyone.

Riyan Parag took charge of the situation and picked the bowlers he wanted to target. He played various shots all around the part to smash 8 fours and 6 sixes in his short inning of 28 balls in which he scored 78 runs at a strike rate of 278.5.

While bowling in the first inning Parag showed some great bit of bowling as well. He managed to claim 4 scalps in his 20 overs, and gave away just 48 runs.

Riyan Parag on being snubbed from Indian team

Many cricketing pundits claim that his recent outburst with the bat was after being left out from the Indian squad for Sri Lanka series. Parag has been in sublime form, he scored 552 runs in the recently concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Earlier in an interview with News 18 he had said, “I have been prioritizing myself and my opinions about myself. I can surely play for India in the next years so I am just sticking to that and working, working and only working towards that.”
