Jemimah Rodrigues leads Mumbai to Maiden Senior Women’s T20 title

Mumbai secured their maiden Senior Women’s T20 title with a convincing six-wicket victory over Uttarakhand in Raipur on Thursday. Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, Mumbai’s bowlers effectively restricted Uttarakhand to a modest total of 84/8 in their allotted 20 overs, in latest cricket updates.

Rodrigues led Mumbai wins Maiden Senior Women’s T20 title

With only Jasia Akhter (20) and veteran opener Punam Raut (24) making notable contributions, Mumbai’s Prakashika Naik and M Dakshini took key wickets, making the chase straightforward for the Mumbai team.

Captain Ekta Bist (17) showed some resistance lower down the order, but despite her efforts and Mansi Joshi’s contribution (8), Uttarakhand couldn’t set a challenging total. Naik emerged as the standout bowler, claiming 3/14 in four overs, while Dakshini and Fatima Jaffer also took two wickets each.

Chasing the modest target, Mumbai faced an early setback with opener Simran Shaikh (4) falling in the first over to pacer Joshi. However, skipper Jemimah Rodrigues (30*) and Humairaa Kaazi (23) steadied the innings with a 34-run partnership. Despite losing a couple of wickets, Mumbai reached the target with ease, thanks to Rodrigues’ unbeaten innings and support from Sayali Satghare (10*).

This victory marked Mumbai’s first appearance in the Senior Women’s T20 final, and they overcame Bengal in the semi-final to face Uttarakhand. The win also ended Railways’ dominance, as they had secured a hat-trick of titles the previous year. Sneh Rana-led Railways suffered a quarter-final loss to Bengal, paving the way for a new champion in the tournament.
