Ranji Trophy 2022: Arjun Tendulkar scores hundred on Debut; emulates Sachin Tendulkar

Another Tendulkar is here and he takes the domestic circuits of Ranji Trophy by storm. Arjun Tendulkar, the son of Sachin Tendulkar scores his maiden century on Ranji Trophy debut to follow in his father’s footsteps.

Almost 34 years ago, Sachin Tendulkar did the same thing while making his debut for Mumbai against Gujarat. The 15-year-old then scored 100 not out in the first inning for his team.

Fast forward to 2022, Arjun Tendulkar, whose primary role is that of a bowler, scores a fantastic 112 not out on the day two of Goa vs Rajasthan. And ended his inning with a total of 120 runs off 207 deliveries to his name. Tendulkar’s inning included a total of 16 fours and 2 sixes.

Arjun came to bat at number 7 on the first day. At that point of time his team had just 201 runs on the board and had lost 5 wickets.  Arjun managed to score 12 runs on the day one and remained unbeaten.

The next day he sticked a much-needed partnership with Suyash Prabhudesai, who scored a much needed hundred for his team. together the duo added a total of 221-run. Out of which Prabhudesai racked 99 runs and Arjun contributed 120.

He was removed in the 144th over by Kamlesh Nagarkoti. And Goa were reduced to 6 wickets for a hefty 422 runs.

The Rajasthan side that Goa is facing is no mug with the ball. It has the likes of bowlers such as Aniket Choudhary and Kamlesh Nagarkoti. Yet, at the end of the second day, Goa has 493 runs to their name.

Coming to Arjun Tendulkar, he switched to Goa from Mumbai, ahead of the start of the Indian domestic season in search of better opportunities.

Since the switch he has been in great nick with the ball in hand for Goa. Arjun’s stint with Goa started in 2022 SMAT in which he picked up 10 wickets in 7 games at an impressive economy of 5.6. He then continued to impress in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, where he managed to claim 7 scalps in 8 innings.

He will be hoping to continue his good form with both bat and bowl, to earn himself a place his IPL franchise of Mumbai Indians, where he is yet to make a debut.
