PSG sign Goncalo Ramos on season-long loan from Benfica

PSG sign Portuguese striker Goncalo Ramos on season-long loan from Benfica. The Ligue 1 club will pay €80 million to Benfica, €65 million fixed fee, and €15 million in add-ons.

The club have signed Ramos on a loan move with an obligation to buy in 2024 due to Financial Fair Play issues. The striker scored 27 goals in 47 appearances for Benfica in the 2022/23 campaign.

PSG have an obligation to buy him at the end of his loan spell. It is similar to the deal that saw Mbappe arrive at the club from Monaco in 2017.

“It is a great pride and an immense happiness to join Paris Saint-Germain. PSG is one of the biggest clubs in the world with one of the best squads,” Ramos said in a statement.

Nasser Al Khelaifi said: “Goncalo, fantastic international player who is young, hungry and fights for the team. It is these kinds of players who are the future of our great institution”.

Ramos made his debut for Benfica in 2020. He joined the club’s academy aged 12 and scored 41 goals with 16 assists in 106 appearances for the Portuguese champions.

Moroever, in his first World Cup start last year, he scored a hat-trick and helped Portugal reach the quarterfinals after taking place of all-time leading scorer Cristiano Ronaldo.

Goncalo Ramos arrives as PSG’s tenth signing of the summer. He is their first striker amid growing uncertainty over Neymar and Kylian Mbappe’s futures.

So, now the 22-year-old joins joins new signings Marco Asensio, Milan Skriniar, Lee Kang-in, Hugo Ekitike, Lucas Hernandez and Manuel Ugarte at PSG.

Moreover, the Ligue 1 champions are close to completing a deal to sign Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele for €50 million.
