Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will join Olympique Marseille on a free transfer

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will join Olympique Marseille from Chelsea on a free transfer. The ex-Arsenal striker will sign a three-year contract with the French club.

Aubameyang’s signing will be one of their biggest signings of the summer. His medical is also scheduled for Thursday. The Gabon international will travel to Germany in the next few hours and will join Marseille’s camp.

This summer, Chelsea are clearing out their squad this summer, they have already sold 12 players permanently. Aubameyang will be the 13th player to leave the Stamford Bridge. The striker made 21 appearances last season, but only started in 11 of those games.

Aubameyang joined Chelsea in 2022 from Barcelona for a fee of €12 million. However, he did not had a good time with the Blues, as he only scored three goals for the club in total.

Aubameyang will join Olympique Marseille as he returns to Ligue 1

Before joining Borussia Dortmund in 2013, Aubameyang played in Ligue 1 with the likes of Saint-Etienne, Dijon, Lille, and Monaco. He scored 41 goals in 120 appearances in the league.

His impressive performances in the French league earned him a move to Dortmund, where he scored 98 goals in 144 games. After his five year stint at Dortmund he joined Arsenal for a fee of €63 million.

In the 2018/19 season Aubameyang was Arsenal’s leader, and he led them to a Europa League final and won the Premier League golden boot. Next season he helped Arsenal to secure a FA Cup title.

However, he had some misunderstanding with Mikel Arteta, and then Arsenal decided to release him from the squad. Auba joined Barcelona on a free transfer in January 2022 and scored 11 goals in 17 games during his six-month spell.

After his medicals, Aubameyang will be announced as a new Olympique Marseille player next week.
