Newcastle United will sign Sandro Tonali from AC Milan

Newcastle United will sign Sandro Tonali from Serie A giants AC Milan for a record fee of €70 million. The midfielder will sign a six-year deal with the Magpies.

Magpies sign Tonali to bolster their midfield

Newcastle will return to the Champions League after finishing 4th in the Premier League behind Man City Arsenal, and Man United. So, they need to sign quality players in every area in this transfer window.

The Magpies were chasing Tonali for a long time now. However, their first offer of €50 million was rejected by Milan. But, their second offer tempted Milan to sell the 23-year-old.

The Italian played 48 games for Milan last season, scoring two goals and assisting 10 in all competitions. He will be a valuable asset in Edie Howe’s side.

It’s clear that after signing Tonali, Newcastle would not only be bolstering their current squad with his signing but also investing in the future too.

Tonali is also labelled as the next ‘Pirlo’ by many people, and it’s also clear that he does possess the quality needed to make it at the highest level.

Sandro Tonali will join Newcastle despite his desire to stay in Milan

According to some reports, Tonali wanted to stay in Milan as it is his boyhood club. But Milan directors pushed him to join Newcastle.

After his contract renewal last year, he said he planned to sign ‘contract after contract’, clearly stating his desire to stay at the club.

The Italian will join a midfield consisting of Brazilian duo Bruno Guimaraes, Joelinton and Englishman Joe Willock at St James’ Park.

Newcastle are rising as one of Europe’s heavyweights following their take-over in 2021. They’re now competing with some of Europe’s biggest clubs for top talents.

After qualifying for the UEFA Champions League, Howe will look to bolster their squad with more signings.
